EDLab Overview
The Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory (EDLab) was founded in 1994 in Clearwater, Florida, USA to provide professional environmental sample testing services to the end user. This state of the art laboratory has analyzed over 250,000 environmental samples which have been collected from air, surfaces and liquids for allergens, microbes, chemicals and others.
EDLab utilizes cutting-edge technologies to test various environmental samples. The results assist in understanding the quality of the environment from where the samples were collected. The unique combination of well-trained staff and a complete range of analytical technologies make EDLab one of the premier environmental laboratories worldwide.
Coronavirus Environmental Testing & Analysis
Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is the causal organism of the COVID-19 Pandemic. The persistence and stability of this virus in the indoor environment is an important aspect in the understanding of the spread and detection of COVID-19. Environmental surface testing of SARS-CoV-2 is critical for risk assessment, infection prevention and control measures. The surface samples are analyzed utilizing RT-qPCR technology. Results are precise, consistent, repeatable and accurate based on gene expression (RNA).
Detection: Perform non-disruptive biosurveillance for COVID-19 exposure within facilities
Monitoring: Monitor efficacy of disinfection and decontamination efforts
Clearance: Clear buildings using risk assessment
Assurances: Reassure customers / occupants that an effective Coronavirus management program is in place

EDLab Areas of Focus Include
Aerobiology
Airborne materials of biological and a-biological nature such as bacteria, fungi, pollen grains, insect bio-detritus, man-made fibers, fiberglass, plant trichrome/fibers and other organic and non-organic entities are significant from health and hygiene point of view. EDLab categorizes and quantifies these types of aerobiota.
Allergen
Dust related allergen triggers such as dust mites, cat, cockroach, cat, dog, rat, mouse etc. are listed as a significant source of allergies and other ailments. Evaluation of submitted environmental samples is performed for qualitative and quantitative estimation of allergen load.
Bacteriology
Aerobic, anaerobic, Thermophilic and HPC bacterial organisms can be the source of infection, contaminants and/or disease within our surroundings. Our diagnostics services help in the identification and quantification of these microorganism in environmental samples.
Biochemistry
Biochemical agents such as allergens, mycotoxins, and endotoxin are potential sources of allergy, infection or capable of causing disease. EDLab evaluates these environmental samples for the estimations of such agents.
Legionella
This bacterium is known for causing infections and disease in humans. EDLab provides non-culture, culture and PCR(DNA) based techniques for identifying and estimating these microorganisms in environmental sources such as air or water. CDC ELITE Program. NY ELAP Lab 12086.
Microscopy
Microscopic particulates of a-biological as well as biological nature can contaminate or pollute the indoor environment. This service examines microscopic particles found in air, surface and/or liquid samples collected from a building investigation.
Mycology
Fungi and fungal borne entities in environmental material are potential allergy, infection and disease causing agents. EDLab can identify and enumerate the mold, yeast or thermophilic contamination of fungi found in environmental samples.
Others
Additional testing and evaluation of environmental samples for potential contaminants or pollutants such as asbestos, chemicals, temperature, and humidity/moisture. EDLab also has a specialized test chamber used to conduct product efficacy testing.
Whether you need an environmental laboratory to perform air, surface and liquid analysis or you are looking for product efficacy evaluations in a specialized test chamber, EDLab is the rapid, reliable and resourceful choice!
