Pure Air Control Services is a Platinum Sponsor of the Florida Association of Physical Plant Administrator’s 15th Annual Conference “Charting the Course to Greatness”.
Each year the Florida chapter of APPA (FLAPPA) holds their annual conference to learn about and discuss topics related to the management of the buildings and facilities within their education institutions. Pure Air Control Services is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor for the 2019 Conference being held on the campus of the University of Central Florida, March 13-15.
Mission of the Association
FLAPPA’s stated purpose is to foster mutually supportive objectives among Florida education facilities, both at the college and K-12 levels. They promote relationships that provide personal and professional development through leadership, educational and networking opportunities for all facilities personnel. FLAPPA also aids and supports APPA at the global level.
To that end, Pure Air Control Services will be at booth 3 promoting positive indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions available to Florida education facilities. In additional Pure Air Control Services will also be presenting an hour long presentation on the topic of HVAC hygiene and energy efficiency.
Education & IAQ
Indoor air quality is an important consideration for Florida education facilities maintenance and the well-being of students and staff. Building operations and performance can drastically affect IAQ. Facilities that defer or ignore maintenance, especially around the HVAC system, roof and windows, are at greater risk to experience serious issues that can have negative effects on the institution.
Here are some common issues that can cause or contribute to poor IAQ conditions:
- Roof or Window Leaks
- Persistent Moisture
- Dirty Ducts and HVAC Units
- Decreased Ventilation
Where there is persistent moisture there is a greater chance of mold and bacteria. Mold is an all too common problem in education facilities these days. It can lead to student health issues, closures and even litigation! While HVAC systems that are not hygienically maintained can be a source of allergen and asthma triggers. Dirty HVAC units also have decreased airflow and cooling capacity which negatively affects ventilation and energy efficiency.
IAQ Solutions for Education Facilities
Pure Air Control Services will be at booth 3 during the 2019 FLAPPA conference showcasing our innovative IAQ solutions. Each of our 3 specialized divisions will be showcased, as well as the specific professional services they provide. Building Sciences and Environmental Diagnostics Laboratory (EDLab) conduct detailed investigations of the indoor environmental conditions of a facility. They can look at a specific complaint, the HVAC System, or the performance of the entire building envelope. They report their findings and provide recommendations to resolve any issue that is found. Building Remediation Sciences (BRS) provides HVAC system cleaning/restoration and building decontamination utilizing proprietary services such as HVAC New Life, PURE-Steam, PURE-Duct, and PURE-Decon.
The Pure Air Control Services booth features interactive touch kiosks with videos and literature to inform conference attendees about the company and services. There is also a hands-on demonstration that shows the effectiveness of PURE-Steam coil cleaning and HVAC New Life Restoration. We can also discuss cost savings with improved energy efficiency and through the use of our cooperative purchasing contracts, as well as be available to answer any questions about specific IAQ concerns.
Special Presentation
In addition to education provided in our booth we will be giving a special presentation in the HVAC Track based on our joint white paper published through the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA).
Efficacy of Steam Coil Cleaning: Microbial Disinfection and Energy Efficiency will be presented by Frank Santini, Director of Education & Strategic Initiatives, Pure Air Control Services, Inc. on Thursday, March 14, 10:00 a.m. This session will take an in-depth look at our PURE-Steam coil cleaning process and the positive outcomes it provides for both hygiene and performance.
