Founded in 1994 in Clearwater, Florida, EdLab analyzes hundreds of thousands of environmental samples from various location/test sites throughout the world.

EdLab specializes in the field of environmental microbiology, indoor air quality, aerobiology, and allergen testing for environmental specimens. Recently, EdLab has expanded its capabilities in the area of identification and quantification of microorganisms in support of industry and client demands and has developed unique capabilities to perform non-viable fungal analyses of surface samples and air samples by direct microscopy.

Microbiology Services

EdLab offers a complete line of analytical services for bacteria such as E.Coli, MRSA, Legionella, bacterial by-products, exotoxin and endotoxin; mycological analysis of mold from bioaerosol, spore trap, surface samples, bulk and water samples; bio-chemical analysis for indoor allergens, bacterial toxin (endotoxin and exotoxin) and mycotoxin; environmental allergen analysis for mites, cockroach, cat, dog and aerobiological analysis for bacteria, fungi, pollen and other aerobiota. Reporting
Our proprietary database allows us to match analytical results with your relevant field data providing you a clear Report of actual project conditions. We can provide various types of Reports based upon your projects requirements. Reports can be as simple as an analytical report with results only, to more complex Reporting that includes a narrative, analytical results, methods of analysis, detection limits, glossary of terms, charts and graphs, QC data, and supportive documentation including all raw data and chain-of-custody documentation. EDLab provides hard copy reports as well as standard electronic deliverables.

Quality Assurance

EDLab maintains a strict internal and external quality control/assurance (QA) Program for maintaining the accuracy and validity of each and every test performed by the laboratory. Method-specific QA/QC requirements are addressed within EDLab’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). SOPs are written for all aspects of the laboratory operations from sample login through sample disposal. The QA Program is under the direct supervision of Dr. Rajiv Sahay, a world renowned aerobiologist.
The objective of EdLab’s QA Policy is to establish consistent and uniform criteria and procedures to be implemented by EdLab Managers.

Ongoing participation in the Environmental Microbiology Proficiency Analytical Testing (EMPAT) Program, sponsored by the AIHA Proficiency Analytical Testing Programs (AIHA PAT, LLC Programs), for environmental microbiology laboratories.

EMPAT Fungal Direct Examination Program
(fungal spore trap and non-culturable)

Round Robin
Pan-American Aerobiological Association (PAAA) Exchange program and ongoing round robin with other EMPAT laboratories for spore trap analysis.

Staff Training
Blind Sample, Method Blank Sample, Duplicate Sample, Replicate Sample, Spiked Sample, Positive Control Sample, Negative Control Sample, Split Sample and Standard/Reference Sample. Record Retention Policy
EdLab has a formal record retention policy in its Quality Assurance Manual that outlines the period of time various record types, both hard-copy and electronic data, must be retained or archived. Access to archives is securely controlled and documented.
